Knockdown and rebuild · Whole house
Dormans Park, East Grinstead
This Georgian-inspired home combines elegant architectural details with a calm, contemporary interior scheme.
The brief
My clients wanted a Georgian-inspired new home that felt elegant without ever tipping into formality. The brief was neutral but confident, with joinery designed rather than simply fitted.
The challenge
A rebuild starts with a blank plan and no character. Proportion, joinery detail and lighting had to do the work that period features would normally provide, and every room needed to belong to the same house.
The design solution
I carried a restrained palette of soft white, warm stone and deep blue through the ground floor, with painted cabinetry, panelling and a central island in a contrasting blue base beneath marble. Pendant lighting and layered lamplight keep the tall rooms warm after dark.
The outcome
A newly built family home that reads as one whole: elegant, calm and detailed throughout.
